Blacksmith artist Greg Leavitt was commissioned to create a sculpture that would relate to its environs as well as call attention to the main entrance of the house. Who could ever have imagined what has evolved - a massive fascinating steel and copper sculpture which has become a nesting place for birds and snow and falling leaves - quite extraordinary?!

The Pond

A water theme runs throughout the gardens. The pond is our attempt to trick the eye, to manipulate and merge nature with artifice. Bob Nonemaker designed the pond and his team, led by Juan Romo, constructed and hardscaped it; Cate, the Garden Angel, introduced water-happy plants; Liz appeared with the koi and goldfish - the frogs and algae and bugs just showed up on their own. Voila!
